What to do when I receive .iCal meeting invitations as Outlook Web App links instead of .iCalendar attachments?

I use the SuperOffice Inbox to manage my e-mails. I have received an .iCal type meeting invitation. Instead of attachment, it is displayed as a link to Outlook Web App. Why does it happen and how do I change it?

There are two ways how you can set up the setting, which allows receiving iCal meeting invitations:

Note! Please log out and log in again to SuperOffice Inbox, after applying the setting. It will reload already received invitations correctly.

Change the setting yourself

Log in to your Office 365 web account and navigate to Options (1). From the menu list choose POP and IMAP (2) option and in the IMAP section add a tick next to the Send event invitations in iCalendar format option (3).

Note! Even though the settings state that it affects sending on event invitations, it affects sending and receiving iCalendar format invitations.

Ask your Office 365 system administrator to change the setting for you

Your system administrator has to log into Exchange Online / Office 365 tenant via the Powershell.

  • To set a setting, please run the PS script: (<username> must be replaced by the user´s username)

    Set-CASMailbox -identity <username> -PopUseProtocolDefaults:$FALSE -ImapUseProtocolDefaults:$FALSE -PopForceICalForCalendarRetrievalOption:$TRUE -ImapForceICalForCalendarRetrievalOption:$TRUE

  • To see current values set, please run PS script: (<username> must be replaced by the user´s username)

    Get-CASMAILBOX -identity <username>| fl name,*pop*,*imap*
